How often should I workout with the Physique 57 DVDs?
The DVDs should be used multiple times during the week for best results. We recommend doing our Classic 57 Minute Full Body Workout two to three times a week, Express 30 Minute Full Body Workout once a week and Arm & Ab or Thigh & Seat Booster 30 Minute Workout once a week, for a total of three to four hours a week. DVDs from Volume 1 or Volume 2 can be used in this rotation.
How can I vary the intensity level of the DVD workouts?
Each DVD has one instructor demonstrating a modified workout for beginners to follow as well as one instructor demonstrating the advanced level for those who are ready to workout with more intensity. These instructors are introduced at the beginning of each workout. The rest of the instructors are performing the workout at the standard level. The goal is for everyone to feel challenged and never plateau.
We also suggest using our playground ball to make your workouts more diverse and challenging. These balls are available for purchase on the Physique 57 website (more details below).
Should I purchase all 6 DVDs?
Each of our DVDs offers new challenges for your mind and body. Owning all 6 DVDs gives you more exercise variations and the opportunity to stimulate your muscles even further in order to achieve a more rapid and effective outcome. Plus, if you order the complete DVD set, you receive a savings of $50 – which means you get the third DVD from each Volume for free!
Should I continue to workout even if I am sore?
Yes! Muscle soreness and stiffness frequently happen to those who are just beginning an exercise program or to those who work their bodies in a new and different way. Because of Physique 57’s variety of strength and stamina building variations, students are apt to feel some muscle soreness after every workout. Sore muscles will have ample opportunity to be stretched and relaxed during the workout through the method’s emphasis on musculoskeletal stretching.
What other activities complement Physique 57?
Physique 57 is complementary to most other workouts. If in the same day you plan to couple a Physique 57 workout with a sustained aerobic activity such as running, it may be best to do the Physique 57 workout first.
Is Physique 57 cardiovascular?
Yes, Physique 57 follows an interval training format. In each workout, you alternate between sprints of intensive exercise and slow recovery activity such as stretches, which allows you to sustain a greater stimulus overall. Interval training may also reduce or prevent common injuries often associated with repetitive endurance exercise.
Can I do the Physique 57 workout if I am pregnant?
Consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise routine. Moderate exercise during pregnancy can help pregnant women feel healthy and fit. Many Physique 57 post-natal clients assert that this system of exercise helped them enjoy a smooth pregnancy and eased recovery after delivery. If you have no serious medical problems and you have an uncomplicated pregnancy, it may be safe to exercise.
Can I do a Physique 57 workout if I am injured?
Consult with your doctor first. In general the Physique 57 technique was developed to sculpt, strengthen and rehabilitate the body. Many of our stretches and strengthening exercises have been suggested by sports medicine physicians and orthopedists. It is recommended that injured students consult with their doctors before beginning any new exercise method.
